It is important to give breast milk to a newborn baby, because it contains many natural substances to fight disease, such as immunoglobulin A which acts on the intestinal wall to inhibit viruses and bacteria. It also contains lactoferrin and lysozyme. Breast milk is also easily digested and absorbed, and has amino acids which help to build up the baby’s body. Prior to breast feeding, always clean your hands and wipe the breasts, nipples and areola area with cleaning cotton.
